Some jobs are not a whole house — just the pieces that will not fit in a hatchback and should not go on a roof rack. Our furniture removals service shifts single items and part-loads around Christchurch: the lounge suite, the bed, the fridge, the cabinet nobody wants to carry down the stairs twice.

What the job covers

• Single-item and part-load shifts — one bulky piece or a handful, not necessarily a whole house
• Two-person carries for heavy or awkward furniture, with trolleys and ramps doing the rest of the work
• Doorways, corners and stairwells worked carefully so walls and furniture both survive
• Loading and strapping so pieces cannot slide, tip or rub in transit
• Placement at delivery — furniture set down where it will live, not left on the lawn

The pieces that need a crew

Lounges are the classic: heavier than they look, wider than the door seems, and impossible to grip well with one pair of hands. Beds come apart in theory but rarely reassemble happily after a rough ride, so frames travel protected and hardware stays together. Fridges and washing machines need upright, steady carrying — tipped whiteware is damaged whiteware. Dining tables, bookshelves, desks and cabinets each have their own weak points, usually legs and corners, and those get the padding and the careful hands.

Stairs change everything, which is why we ask about them upfront. A straight carry down a Halswell driveway is one job; a third-floor walk-up with a tight landing is another. Both are doable — they just need the right approach, the right gear and no rushing. If collection and delivery are at different addresses, the truck route gets planned so your furniture spends the least possible time loaded and the most possible time exactly where it should be.

What to sort before we arrive

Clear the path the furniture will travel: hallway clutter, rugs that slide, cars blocking the driveway. Empty bookshelves and cabinets so they carry lighter and do not spill mid-carry. If a piece comes apart — bed frames, table legs, sectional lounges — leave the hardware in a labelled bag taped to the piece, or hand it to the crew on arrival. Measure the tight spots if you can: the narrowest doorway and the lowest stairwell turn. A photo of each end helps us bring the right gear.
